Sheep with a purpose
The most original orientation table I have ever seen is to be found at the col de Mantet in the Pyrénées-Orientales. For a start it isn’t a table at all. From a distance it looks like a few random stones poking out of the grass. Approaching, the stones begin to look like sheep sitting down in a large sheepfold.

Close to they become sculptures of sheep, with plaques on their sides: Pic del Canigó (2785m), Vall de l’Alemany (GR10 refuge à 1968m), Sant Martí del Canigó (1055m), Pic de la Dona (2704m). At first the sheep seem to be randomly distributed. But then everything snaps into place. This is an orientation table. Perfect. A real work of art.
