Many maps are now available for free on the Internet, thanks to the OpenStreetMap project. So I’ve been investigating which are the best for walking in the Pyrenees for hikers equipped with a GPS. One stands out above all the rest, Topo Pirineos 6.1. But it is not without faults and is best used in conjunction with the Alternativas Libres map which includes routing. For more details see La Senda.

Again Steve, You recommend a Garmin Etrex HCx GPS, Ok, I’m living in Phillippines and they are not available here. I shall be going back to Uk end of this month. Can you give me some idea of the cost of thios GPS and where in London I may buy it?
Again thanks
Hi Frank
I live in the south of France so I can’t help with buying in London. But why not buy on the Internet? By the way, the Garmin Etrex HCx is now out-of-date. You should be looking at newer models.
Best wishes, Steve
